One Medical Passport (1MP) announced the launch of their second round of the Ambulatory Surgery Everyday Heroes Program. The company’s clinical-based team understands the stress, hard work, and sacrifice that comes with being an outpatient surgery professional. The ASC workflow solution company created this program in 2020 to not only give back to the ASC community, but to recognize, honor and reward these remarkable outpatient surgery professionals who have gone above and beyond their role and touched the lives of so many.

 

In 2020, the first ever round of the Ambulatory Surgery Everyday Heroes Program was launched. The company received hundreds of inspiring stories of Everyday Heroes from outpatient surgical facilities across the country. The 1MP Everyday Heroes Program Committee worked to review each submission and selected the Top 12 Contestants who moved to the next phase of the program. The public was then able to cast their vote for their favorite Everyday Hero. After receiving over 10,000 votes, the Committee tallied up all votes to determine the Top 3 Finalists.

 

A panel of 3 judges then worked together to select the 2020 Everyday Hero: Charlene Gottschall, Surgical Technologist at The Reading Hospital SurgiCenter at Spring Ridge. Charlene was “every manager’s dream employee”. After being diagnosed with peritoneal cancer, Charlene still came into work with a positive attitude and a commitment to deliver great surgical care. In May 2021, Charlene lost her tough battle with cancer. Charlene will always be the true definition of an Everyday Hero.

 

“I want to give back to the ASC community that we’ve worked arm-in-arm with for more than 20 years”, said Stephen Punzak, MD, CEO of One Medical Passport. “As a practicing anesthesiologist, I’ve watched my colleagues overcome incredible challenges and obstacles while going above and beyond their role, and it’s gone unnoticed and unrecognized. We created the Ambulatory Surgery Everyday Heroes Program to celebrate these unsung heroes.”

Starting July 13, 2021, One Medical Passport will be accepting Ambulatory Surgery Everyday Hero nominations. We will recognize, honor, and reward these unsung heroes with the following:

  • Top 10 Contestants will receive $100 gift cards
  • First and second runners-up will receive $500 gift cards
  • The 2021 Everyday Hero will receive $5,000 in cash prizes:
    • $2,500 cash prize to the Ambulatory Surgery Everyday Hero
    • $2,000 to the charity of the Hero’s choice
    • $500 to buy lunch for the Hero’s ASC
